No not the poem by T.S. Elliot, though it does ring accurate here.

People really aint shit yall!

Ok not all people, but I’m having trouble coming to terms with the fact that a lot of them are.  Nobody’s perfect this is true, and to assume otherwise is just foolish on your part.  But, there is a growing trend that I’m coming into contact with quite frequently these days among the people I find myself surrounded by that is disturbing.  A lot of people in my age group are becoming more and more obsessed with ‘status’ and climbing some type of social or career ladder as opposed to what, in my opinion, actually matters most in life: genuine love and concern for other people.

Sure they’ll be available when its convenient for them, or when they need to look good and of course when they need something from you.  But what happens when they have to be inconvenienced in some way?  When no one is around…and they have nothing to gain from you…and you them…and you find each other clothed in the nakedness of your basic human existence…vulnerable…and all you need is for them to simply show up for you???  Whether simply being physically present or emotionally available or just for them to keep their GD word!?!?!?!?!?!

Maybe I’m wrong for being such an ‘all or nothing’ kinda person…and if I am, then I’ll just have to take that L.  I’m sorry, but I don’t know how to do 50% of something; either I’m 100% your friend or I’m 100% indifferent about you.  Notice I said indifferent as opposed to enemy-in order to be someone’s enemy you have to first care enough about them to dispel time and energy not liking them…but I digress…

A friend of mine made a good point referring to these people as ‘hollow human beings’.  Yaaaaas!  That’s exactly it! Empty hulls; shells of something or someone that they wish they were.  They perpetrate lies! They are monuments of nothingness on the inside.  Ok but you get the point…

I guess this bothers me so much because I do believe in people.  I choose to believe the good in them as opposed to the bad, I have to.  I believe that everyone, even these ‘hollow human beings’ have their place in the world and I try to treat everyone with the same love and respect that I would like in return, regardless of whether this is reciprocated or not.  Silly me tho…at one point I thought that everyone felt the same way.  I know not now, but I still can’t let that dictate my behavior and how I choose to operate.  It’s called integrity people- get you some!

And what’s so crazy about this new phenomenon is that most of these ‘hollow human beings’ are women!  Which is probably why they are perpetually single and wondering why they so damb bitter.  Oooops, wrong blog post 😉

Shrimp Alfredo Pasta

I like seafood.  Just thought yall should know that 🙂

  • 1 16oz box dried pasta, I like linguine noodles best
  • salt
  • oil
  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and de-veined
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped fine
  • olive oil
  • Blackening spice
  • Alfredo Sauce
  • Cooked broccoli, optional
In a large pot over medium high heat, add salt and oil to water and boil pasta according to instructions on the box.  Drain the pasta and set aside.
Meanwhile, in a large stainless steel skillet, heat about 3 tbsp olive oil until warm.  Season your clean, raw shrimp with the blackening spice liberally.  Add the garlic to the oil and the shrimp and cook until done, no more than 5 mins.  Be careful not to burn the garlic!
Add the alfredo sauce to the skillet with the shrimp and cook for another 5 mins or so.  Stir in the pasta and add the broccoli if you desire.
