***I really wanna take this opportunity to say ‘thank you’ for all the feedback that I’ve been getting about the blog. It really means a lot yall. I really didn’t know this whole thing would catch on at first, and I still can’t believe I’ve gotten the response that I have, so I’m truly humbled. I take all of your comments, suggestions, questions, etc. seriously and try to keep them in mind, so please keep em coming!
In keeping with the tone of gratitude…I must say that overall, I’m really grateful for the things that I have going on right now in my life. I got my life health and strength, which is a blessing in itself.
Of course I’m not happy about a number of things that I have going on in my life right now: work, personal life, family, etc. And I even get sad and worry from time to time. I have my moments too 🙂 But overall, I’m still grateful that I’m in a much better place than I was a few years ago when I first moved to the DMV. That’s a choice yall. Happiness is a choice that you have to consciously work at. It takes real courage to put yourself first and pursue happiness no matter what the cost. I think I’ve had to learn that lesson the hard way over the years, but I’m sure glad that I finally got it. Thanks be to sweet 8lb 10oz baby Jesus that I did.
I’m excited about the future and I even find myself expecting greatness. I share this same enthusiasm with my friends too about their lives and futures. I’m just feeling excited is all I guess. I’m trying to consciously choose to focus on the good and not be such a ‘Negative Nancy’ all the time 🙂 Not that I’m in such a good mood today…cuz honestly yall know I am not feelin this job with these DC knee-grows right about now aaaaaaaaaaaaand it’s kinda ugly outside. This is a good spice mixture that I use whenever I make chili. I’ll probably post that recipe in my next blog post.
- 4 tsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp sugar (I use stevia instead here)
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp dried parsley
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh black pepper
- 1/4 c flour (I usually leave this off, but add it if you want a thicker chili)
Mix all ingredients in a small bowl and store in an airtight container.
