For black women, self-care is a radical act.
Mindfulness has been proven to have several physical, mental, and emotional health benefits, notably stress reduction, a boost in immunity, and an increase in empathy. Despite these benefits, black women don’t participate in traditional mindfulness meditation practices for various reasons: accessibility and stigma being the top reasons. SOLE Food promotes mindfulness through cooking and homemaking; making this form of self-care more accessible for black women to incorporate into their daily lives. It is a way of being, a way of life; a lifestyle.

Our Mission
The mission of SOLE Food is to create a curated space for black women that facilitates the practice of mindfulness as a form of connection through cooking. This method of practicing mindfulness makes it readily accessible; and its benefits improve our abilities to cope with race and gender related stressors to lead a more whole and fulfilling life.
SOLE Food uses cooking not only as a means of self-care, but also as a spiritual practice; we provide tools and resources to share our truths and reclaim ourselves in order to live the whole and fulfilled lives that we desire and deserve.
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.
We Sustain Our Lives Everyday by Strengthening Ourselves, Lovingly & Earnestly.
Our Vision
SOLE Food improves the lives of black women by making mindfulness skills more accessible in order to mitigate unique race and gender-related stressors (anxiety, stress, depression), promote connection, teach empathy and self-compassion, and foster an overall sense of wholeness and fulfillment.
